My garden didn't turn out very well this year I do have pictures I plan on posting hopefully soon. Between the heat, tiller issues, and finding out I am pregnant I wasn't able to take care of it as I should have or plant as much as I would have liked. I am hoping next year, since I learned some things that need to be done different this year, I will have have much better garden.
Last night we had a rain/hail storm. It looks like my rows washed out some. The onion plants seem to be fine. The lettuce seeds I'm not sure about because they are planted quite shallow. All I can do is wait and see if they germinate or not. On a good not I heard that hail is good for releasing nitrogen, which my garden needs. So thanks God for answering my prayer for helping me with my garden. I wanted to get the broccoli planted today but I am quite sore from yesterday. I'm going to wait till tomorrow to work on that, so I don't over do it and end up hurting myself. Gardening is hard work, especially for someone not that physically active. The top picture shows the approximate seven foot by five foot area I got done. I remove most of the sticks and roots then rowed it up some what. The first row on the left I planted romaine lettuce. The other four rows are sweet onions. I didn't get it all watered till Curtis got home cause my house didn't reach and the only thing I had was a water bottle which wasn't working. He picked me up a watering can but we are going to need to get one or two more hoses so I don't have to make a hundred trips trying to water everything. The bottom picture is the area for the broccoli I started trying to get ready but was to exhausted. It's approx. twenty feet by nine feet. Curtis has two areas tilled for me so far. The first is roughly ten feet by thirty feet and the second area is roughly eight feet by forty-five feet. I plant to start working on planting some seeds tomorrow. As the above video(taken today) shows Curtis got the tiller working. The video also shows how he is struggling to till the yard. This first time around because of all the roots and such he has to till it because he doesn't want me getting hurt. Below shows that we also bought some more plants/seeds. I bought four strawberry plants today. The other pictures show how well my sprouts are doing after sixteen days. Some of these I bought earlier but several Curtis helped me pick out today. I can't wait to actually start planting them. These are from eleven days after I seeded them. I did a slide show style for these pictures because of how many there are. Just click the thumbnails to see the larger image. The first two pictures are the beefsteak tomatoes sprouting. The other three are the cherry tomato sprouts. The first three pictures show the cherry tomatoes that are sprouting so far. Nothing from the other kind of tomatoes yet. You can see, in the last two pictures, that a lot more broccoli has sprouted today. |
