Garlic Parmesan Breadsticks
Creates 18 Breadsticks
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup water, warm around 110°F
- 1/4 cup whole milk, warm around 110°F
- 2 1/4 teaspoons Instant dry yeast
- 1 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons salted butter, softened. Plus about 1/8 cup melted
- 2 1/2-3 cups unbleached all purpose flour, spoon into measuring cup and level off. Don't scoop.
- 1/2 teaspoons salt
- grated parmesan cheese
- garlic powder
- dried oregano (optional)
- In large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water for 5 minutes
- Add milk, sugar, softened butter, salt and 1 cup of flour. Beat until incorpated with dough hook about 1-2 minutes. Add in the rest of flour to form soft dough. You can either knead by hand for 6-8 minutes or with dough hook for 5 minutes. Dough should be smooth & elastic.
- Transfer dough to a large greased bowl. I use olive oil. Flip dough over once to coat top. Cover in plastic wrap and let double in size in a draft free place. I put mine in toaster oven. Took about 45 minutes.
- Punch dough down. Turn out onto lightly floured surface. I flattened dough into a 6 x 18 inch rectantange and divided dough into 18 pieces. Shape each piece into 6 inch rope. Place about 2 inches apart on greased or parchment covered baking sheet. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 25 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°f. Brush melted butter on each breadstick. Sprinkle with as much garlic powder, parmesan & oregano to your liking. Bake 8-10 minutes until golden brown. When done either serve immediatly on plate or can be cooled on wire rack. I put cooled leftovers in ziplock overnight and still were soft and yummy next day.
